Our Weekly Timetable!
Home Learning Menu
Our new Home Learning Menus mean your child can pick and choose which type of homework they'd like to complete - and be rewarded for it! Remember to take pictures or send tweets to our class Twitter page as evidence of your child's fantastic work! :-)
Important Information and Dates
We have now introduced a brand new Orchard Home Learning Menu! This will replace the old homework system. Your child can choose any activity from the Home Learning Menu to complete - and they can complete as many as they want! In fact, the more the better, because there are points up for grabs for each activity completed - and points lead to prizes and certificates! Home Learning is now entirely optional, but we do recommend that your child tries to complete some activities. If you/your child would like to focus on an English or maths aspect of the Home Learning Menu, there will be sheets available in class for children to take home. If there is anything specific you feel you'd like your child to work on, please don't hesitate to contact Miss Darby and I will get something together for you!
In 3 Holly, our weekly PE spot is on a Thursday morning. Please ensure your child has their correct PE kit with them on this day. This consists of a white t shirt, black shorts and appropriate footwear. Our focus this half-term is netball, where we will be learning all about attacking, defending and the different types of passes we can use!
Every Tuesday and Thursday, 3 Holly will be starting their day with the Daily Mile! We will be lining up outside and completing a track around the playground on these days - our destination is Tokyo, just in time for the Olympic and Paralympic Games!

Times table rockstars - in Year Three your child will begin to learn all about the importance of times tables, and this will be a key focus in our class. Your child needs to know all of their times tables up to 12 by the end of Year Four, so give them a head start and practise on times table rockstars! All children have now been provided with their username and password to enter the site - these are stuck in their Home Learning books. If anyone has any problems logging on, please come and see Miss Darby!
Books we are focusing on this half term
This half-term, we are linking our English learning with our topic focus - The Bronze and Iron Ages. Our English work is therefore based on the super "How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth", by Michelle Robinson and Kate Hindley. Within this, our writing focuses will be writing alliteration poems and instructional texts. We will also be looking at some non-fiction texts to do some research on woolly mammoths!
This half-term, our whole class reading book is “Gangsta Granny” by the AMAZING David Walliams!
