Welcome to 4 Ash's Web page. On here you will find useful information and can keep up to date with all the fantastic things we have been doing in class.
In 4 Ash we follow the school rules of:
We are Ready
We are Respectful
We are Safe
We also make sure that we stick to our school Motto of 'Dream Big and Dare to Fail'. We do this by showing how resilient we are and proving to everyone in school that we won't give up no matter how hard work gets.
If you have any questions or queries, please speak to Miss March or Miss Whitfield at the beginning or end of the school day.

Monday Afternoons are taught by Miss Eyles who teaches PSHE and Computing.
Homework is now following a menu style approach. Each child has had one of these given to them. They outline a variety of different activities that children can complete and earn themselves points. From these points they can earn themselves different certificates which will be handed out in assembly.
You can let us know about what your child has done by Tweeting us, posting on Facebook or writing in their homework book. I'm looking forward to seeing all of the things you get up to!
Please ensure you are reading with your children at least 3 times a week.
Our P.E day is Wednesday. Please make sure you send your child to school with the correct PE Kit. Please ensure hair is tied back and earrings are removed.
We go swimming on a Friday morning. Please ensure they have the correct swimming costumer/shorts, a swimming hat and a towel. Pleasure ensure all earrings are removed, children with earrings in will not be allowed in the pool. (As stated by Dewsbury Swimming Baths)

Our Reading Focus
In 4 Ash we love to Read. We like to find as many opportunities as we can every day to read in class either to ourselves or a partner. We love to sit in our new reading corner based around the fantastic Author 'David Walliams'. We are currently reading his book 'Gangsta Granny' at the end of the school day.
In Spring 2 our books focus is 'How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth' by Michelle Robinson. We are looking forward to continuing our new approach to reading but this time with a Non - Fiction book. We will be using this book to focus on reading, writing and following instructions, as well as writing Alliterative Poems about Bronze Age/ Iron Age animals.
In Spring 1 our book focus is 'The Wind in the Willows' written by Kenneth Grahame. We will be continuing our new way of teaching English by spending 2 days a week focusing on picking apart the book and completing reading activities and the remaining three days learning how to write in different genres. This term we are focusing on Diary Entries, Finishing a Story and Writing Playscripts. We can't wait to start reading this iconic classic.
In Autumn 2 we are reading 'Charlotte's Web' by E.B.White. We will be spending lots of time reading this book as a whole class and discussing in detail what has happened in the story. We will be using this book to support our writing. By the end of Autumn term we will have written a newspaper article, a non-chronological report and a setting description. We are really looking forward to finding out what happens in this story.
In Autumn 1 we also looked at the book 'Mousehole Cat' which is a story based in Cornwall. We focused on all the vocabulary used, especially focusing on the descriptions the author used. We spent lots of time using the pictures in the book and creating our own descriptions. We also created some fantastic descriptive poems based on the Storm Cat.
In Autumn 1 we are looking at the book 'The White Giraffe'. We will be studying the language used and recreating part of the story ourselves. The Author is Lauren St John who has produced a range of books based on different South African animals.
