Here, you can find all of the important information you might need and discover everything we are currently learning about.

In 6 Oak we are ready, respectful and safe. We are aspirational with our learning and understand the importance of being brave and taking risks.

Key information:

PE will be on Wednesdays. 

On P.E. days pupils need to come to school in P.E. kits and stay in them for the day. Please make sure all items are clearly labelled with the children's names on.

  • Pumps (indoor) and trainers (outdoor)
  • Plain white round neck tee-shirt or polo top
  • Plain black PE shorts
  • Plain black joggers/tracksuit bottoms/leggings
  • Black hoody - A school jumper must be worn if they do not have a black hoody)

 

Children also have the option to wear the Orchard Primary Academy branded PE kits. These can be ordered from:

This half term, our focus is American Football. 

Swimming will be on Fridays.

 Pupils need to ensure they have an appropriate swimsuit and a towel. Pupils do not need to bring goggles but can bring their own if they prefer.

 

 It is important to keep hydrated throughout the school day so we need to have a bottle of fresh water in the classroom with our names on.  We have water fountains in school to refill these when needed.

 In English, we will be focusing on the following texts:

We will be writing character descriptions, diary entries, non-chronological reports and newspaper articles.

 In maths, we will start by looking at place value and then move onto the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

Reading at Home (Boom Reader) – Emmer Green Primary School

This half term we will be learning...

English

As part of our English, we take part in daily Guided Reading and Writing lessons. This half-term in Guided Reading, we are reading Letters From The Infinite by Pateince Agbabi . The text is about a young girl (Elle) who has the ability to leap through time.

Writing

In Writing, we are looking at creating an Explanation text all about Climate Change and the effect it is having on our world. Next we are basing our work around the book Varmints, writing a setting description of two contrasting places.

  Maths

In Maths this half term we are covering many topics in our build-up to standardised tests, including: shape, space and measure; position and direction; the 4-operations; statistics; ratio and proportion; and a brief introduction to algebra!

 

Topic - The British Empire

 

In our Topic lessons we are covering The British Empire. We are looking at the beginning of the Empire, the colonisation of different countries around the world, Britain's role in the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and the abolition of the Empire.

 PSHE 

Our PSHE lessons will teach us about 'My Happy Mind'. We will talk about how we perceive threats, how we make decisions and how our actions effect others.
