Class Timetables

Important Information

Pine Class PE Day: Wednesday (indoor) and Thursday (outdoor).

Ash Class PE Days: Wednesday (indoor) and Thursday (outdoor).

Aspen class PE days: Tuesday (outdoor) and Thursday (indoor).

On these days, children can come to school in their PE kits for the whole day.

Please ensure your children has the following PE kit -
- Plain white T- shirt or polo shirt

- Plain black shorts (on warm days)

- Plain black track-suit bottoms (on colder days)

- Trainers or pumps.

On PE day, children need to pack a spare jumper/ hoody for colder days or in case the weather becomes colder throughout the day.

This half term we will be learning

English

This half term we will be basing our writing around our topic of 'Ancient Egypt'. We will begin to read the story 'Egyptian Princess' to create a setting description using lots of descriptive language. We will then develop our writing skills through a range of genres including narrative writing, debates and instructions. Alongside our writing, we will develop our reading skills by exploring a range of texts and practising our retrieval, inference, prediction, vocabulary and summarising skills.

Maths

In maths this half term we will be focusing on our unit of place value. We will learn the value if each digit and explore ways of partitioning and representing numbers. We will then move on to addition and subtraction. We will practise skills we have already learnt and apply it to our new learning.

Science

During the Autumn term we will be learning all about states of matter and we will explore the differences between solids, liquids and gases. We will investigate different materials and see how these can change state by heating and cooling. We will also learn about the water cycle and use practical investigations to develop our scientific enquiry, observation and recording skills.

Topic

This term we are focusing on the topic of 'Ancient Egypt'. We will learn all about the ancient civilization, understanding when and where the Ancient Egyptians lived. We will learn the role of Pharaohs and find out their beliefs about gods as well as investigating pyramids, hieroglyphics and mummification. In Geography we will be learning about the River Nile and discovering the features of rivers and how they are used.

Design Technology and Art

In Art this half term, we will be creating our own zines by making our own paper and scrolls- just like the Egyptians.

PSHE - My Happy Mind

Our PSHE lessons will involve using My Happy Mind. We will learn more about how our brains work and explore ways to support our wellbeing and manage our emotions. We will think about what makes us unique and recognise our strengths. Throughout our learning we will develop strategies to build confidence, resilience and a positive mindset.

Music

This half term year 3/4 will be accessing recorders lessons on a Wednesday.

Home Learning

Reading- Children will have home access to Oxford Reading Buddy where they will be able to log on and read books at their reading level as they wish to.

Times Tables- Children will have access to Times Tables Rockstars to practice their timetables.

Handwriting- Children will be given a weekly handwriting practice sheet every Friday.
