Home Learning

At Orchard Primary Academy, we work hard on developing our retention skills, ensuring that we develop our memories to remember what we learnt yesterday, last week, last half term and in previous year groups. This learning knowledge will support us in becoming more fluid learners, using previous knowledge to support our present learning.

For our home learning this year, teachers will send out a home learning sheet each week. Each year group will receive a sheet which focuses on the learning they did last week, last half term and last year. It will include Maths and Spelling.

We also understand how important activities that support our wellbeing, develop life skills and our creativity are! We continue to believe that these areas are important for the development of the whole child. Because of this, teachers will set a 'challenge' each week. Don't forget to share these on either your child's class, or the whole school twitter page.

Following parent feedback, home learning will continue to be OPTIONAL. Children will mark their home learning in class with their class teacher. It will state on the home learning sheet when it is due in for. If you do have any questions about your child's home learning, please speak to their class teacher.

An example of the home learning is seen below. Again, these tasks are OPTIONAL and children will not be sanctioned for not completing their home learning worksheet.  We want learning at home to be fun, develop children's retention and where possible, a family event.
