Pupil Leadership

At Orchard, we give pupils the opportunity to lead in many areas in school. We believe it is important for our the pupils at Orchard to have their voice heard and our Pupil Leaders represent the voices and opinions of children in their classes. Pupil Leadership at our school reflects the values and attitudes that we strive to instil in our children including Respect, Responsibility, Aspiration and Community.

In our Pupil Leadership team, we have several key areas that children can be a part of the leadership in. We have our School Council that has a representative from each class and these pupils oversee the hiring and management of the other key areas of Pupil Leadership. Our sub-areas of pupil leadership at Orchard are Digital Leaders, Play Leaders, Eco Leaders, Community Leaders, Attendance Leaders and Wellbeing Leaders.

Our Pupil Leadership team have a dedicated space in school to conduct their meetings in and each sub-team have their own badge and notepad and pen with their logo embossed on them. See some images of our meeting room below.

School Council

Our School Council team have been central to our pupil voice feedback and decision making over the Autumn term. They have spoken to leaders about playtimes and helped to influence decision on equipment and activities. They have also been actively involved in the recruitment of the new Academy Vice Principal, through candidate interviews and show rounds on the day. They have supported leaders in school in the organisation of themed weeks and attendance activities and rewards and have recruited their first sub panel of play leader leadership group.

Play Leaders

Early in the Spring term our newly elected playleaders took part in their training. They used different equipment to set up different team games that they will use to encourage positive play with our younger children at play and lunch time.
